Mirror Tile

Glassy tile – beautiful and practical. There is an interesting and inexpensive material in construction stores – a glassy tile. It can be used practically in every room; it’s easier to work with it than, for instance, with big mirrors. Moreover, there is no necessity to worry that glass can crack: in this case it’s easy to change one glassy tile for another.

Bathrooms lack space in many houses. Small squares of a glassy tile pasted on one wall expand a small room visually twice. At the same time such a material is not sensitive to water.

And there is no need to overdo it. You should not coat completely walls and a ceiling with a glassy tile. Very big glassy areas will make a room “cold” and not comfortable. A glassy tile looks the best in the form of inclusions – single squares, rhombs, it’s possible to make vertical glassy strips from the floor up to the ceiling.

Bathrooms have a drawback – not good-looking pipes. Many people try to hide a standpipe into a duct made from for instance a gypsum board. But there is a more effective variant. Do you remember tricks with disappearance? The secret of many of them is in the usage of the reflecting features of a mirror. If you paste on a duct not a usual glazed tile, but glassy squares, you will be surprised how the construction “disappears” in the room.

A glassy tile looks attractive and stylish beside the surface of dark rich colors (ceramic tile, drapery, parquet), but this does not make an interior gloomy.

It is appropriate to place here a glassy tile on the wall from the left or right of the entrance, but not opposite to it. The tile expands visually a narrow corridor.

A glassy tile helps to solve the problem of an uneven ceiling in small flats. Suspended ceilings with a glassy tile after installation will “steal” surely 10-15 centimeters, but due to an optical illusion neither you nor guests will notice this. It is recommended to take for such works a square tile of a middle size: a small one will strongly split the reflection, and very large one has many chances to crack during installation. And one more rule: the higher the room is, the larger the tile should be. A good idea is to put tile on the suspended built-in shelf.

You may no ways make the floor glassy. But it’s possible to arrange so-called “glassy pits”. For this purpose you should make in the floor a small square hollow (15-20 centimeters) with glassy walls and the same bottom.
